Yasuko shared this and it is worth repeating. If you reuse announcements in Blackboard from term to term, they won't be copied to Canvas, so make sure to copy and save them into a Word document for use later.
Yasuko Jackson

Thanks Sean for sharing! When we are ready to copy content, eLearning will provide the list of what will be copied or not.

Hi everyone,
Merideth Humphries
51:20
Will test question banks transfer in a similar format?
Yasuko Jackson
51:28
Awesome! I will get back to you to schedule a training/test run.
Kristin Lambert
52:55
Will there be a folder in canvas that is similar to MyMedia on Blackboard?
Yasuko Jackson
53:02
@Merideth, that is a great question. Yes, test question banks transfers but you will need to choose to add test questions (if any are included in your Bb zip file) to an existing question bank in Canvas or create a new question bank.
Merideth Humphries
53:27
Thanks Yasuko!

May I request an additional Canvas shell course?

Marilyn Waller-Niewold

For those of us who are read-to-learn students, do you have the steps in those videos in a written form?
Steven Pengra
54:38
Thanks Kristine and Yasuko. You are both AMAZING and our Hero's..
Yasuko Jackson
54:43
@Kristin, Yes! It is called "My Media" ☺️

@Marilyn - We are working on the written instructions. We have the step-by-step on how to migrate content from Bb to Canvas. We can come up with clean up instruction too!
Angie Cole
56:52
Thanks so much for all of the good info and support during this transition!
Merideth Humphries
57:50
I assume we can just migrate specific content areas only is this correct? For instance I just want to migrate my "my media" files and my testbank questions but I would like to build the rest as I go from scratch. Is that possible?
Yasuko Jackson
57:53
eLearning is here to help. We have a master list of CRNs for winter term and forward so we will not leave any faculty behind. However, YOU are the content expert so we will need your help to clean up the existing course content.
Steven Pengra
58:02
When we move our BB content to Canvas, will our Midterm and Final Exams move also?
Steven Pengra

Thank you

I have two classes I don't teach very often--Travel Literature and U.S. Popular Culture and Folklore. If I can spring clean those courses, can I download all of the content to migrate into Canvas for future use? I probably won't teach Travel Lit. until next academic year.

Will we still have access to Softchalk?
Beth Palmer

@Merideth - Yes it is possible or you can copy and hide/delete items too.
Stephanie André
01:01:23
Okay, thanks! 🙂
Paul Pelly
01:01:27
Do I make an appointment with you or E learning?
Marilyn Waller-Niewold
01:01:31
@Yasuko - thank you for the hope of having written steps for the spring cleaning. I would love to have those steps written out along with the video information. I find myself having to replay the videos over and over to actually understand the steps within each component of cleaning. Oh the woos of being sterio-tactic rather than visual.
Yasuko Jackson
01:01:56
@Stephanie - If you do not have a plan to teach in the near future, it may be better to archive Bb course content for future upload to Canvas. Then when you have more time, you can create shells to migrate it to Canvas.
Paul Pelly
